Burns' goal leads Nyack field hockey in OT thriller

Nyack handed rival Nanuet only its second defeat of the season on Wednesday, rallying for an overtime 2-1 victory on the road in a field hockey matchup.

Gia Alcin also recorded a goal for Nyack while goalie Emily Rodriguez had 15 saves in the win.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Nyack, which moved the program up to No. 11 overall in the Section 1 Class B field hockey Bracketology standings. The RiverHawks have a chance to make another jump on Friday when they take on No. 10 Sleepy Hollow/Briarcliff.

Nanuet is fourth in the standings entering Friday’s matchup at home vs rival Pearl River.
