No. 6 Fox Lane upsets No. 3 Greeley in Class AA Boys Soccer quarterfinals

In the biggest upset of the Section 1 Boys Soccer quarterfinal round, No. 6 Fox Lane traveled to Chappaqua and took down their biggest rival, No. 3 seed Greeley, 3-1. Goals were scored by Kenny Mejia Lopez and Lucas Ormazabal for the Foxes.

The Quakers had beaten the Foxes twice during the regular season in hard fought, toughly contested 2-1 matches, but Fox Lane has been trending up leading into the postseason. Since an October 5th loss to Greeley, the Foxes have been 5-1-2 with their only loss coming to Class AAA No. 4 seed Ossining. We hear all the time in sports how hard it is to beat a rival three times in one season and Fox Lane definitely proved that theory right last night.

Foxes Coach Michael Tomassi was extremely proud of his squad and had these comments after the game “We played very well. We played with great heart and togetherness. We played them tough twice during the regular season and knew a strong effort could produce a victory”.
