Baseball double-elimination semifinal round begins on Saturday

The final four teams in each of the top four classifications in Section 1 Baseball remain. Now the grind to win a championship really begins.

After a single elimination format in the opening rounds, the quest for a title will be double elimination beginning with today’s semifinals in Class AAA, AA, A and B.

Winners from today’s games will advance to Tuesday’s ‘Winners Bracket Final” while the losers will player Tuesday in an elimination game.

Here are the matchups for Saturday:

Class AAA: Scarsdale at Ketcham, 11 am
Class AA: John Jay-CR at Fox Lane, 12 pm
Class A: Eastchester at Panas, 11 am
Class B: Hastings at Briarcliff, 11 am

The Section 1 Championship games will be held on May 31 (and June 1, if necessary) at SUNY Purchase.
