Briarcliff Surges Past Hastings in Second Half for 2-0 Home Win

Briarcliff took down Hastings 2-0 last night in a key Class B matchup.

Hastings mostly controlled the first half, but GK’s Conall Torres for Briarcliff and Liam Belton for Hastings kept the game scoreless through the first 45 minutes.

Briarcliff came out hot in the second half, though and just five minutes after the restart, the Bears’ Markus Zielinski opened the scoring. Dan Chioccola’s goal with 10 minutes remaining would give Briarcliff some breathing room and Torres held on for the clean sheet and 2-0 Bears win.

This is a team with that went 17-1-1 last season, only losing to Keio in the Class B title game. The early season has been challenging for the Bears, but they’re hoping this home win against Hastings can help build some positive momentum heading into league play.
