Fox Lane boys soccer claims Yorktown tourney crown

Fox Lane was looking for a rebound following a difficult loss this week. They found it with a victory on Saturday against one of the premier programs in the conference.

The Foxes held off a hard-charge in the second half by Yorktown, defeating the hosts 3-2 for the Yorktown Tournament championship.

Kenny Mejia Lopez, Daniel Troski and Fredy Contreras each scored for the Foxes, who beat Pelham in the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday.

“We came out hot and we were able to take a 2-0 lead,” Fox Lane coach Mike Tomassi said. “We held a 3-1 lead deep into the second half.

“It was a great game for the Foxes against a great program and a strong Class AA team.”

Gavin Morales assisted on two of the Fox Lane goals. Mejia Lopez assisted on the other.

Senior keepers Drew Bagley and Eli Daglio recorded a combined 12 saves for Fox Lane, which improved to 3-1 on the season. The Foxes’ lone loss came on Thursday to Mahopac.
