Greeley upsets Yorktown to capture Class B girls lacrosse title

Horace Greeley took down defending champion Yorktown in Thursday’s Section 1 Class B Girls Lacrosse final, rallying in the fourth quarter for a 10-8 victory at Lakeland High School.

Rowan Edson scored five goals and Brown commit Bae Bounds added three goals as Horace Greeley took down the No. 1 seed in the final.

Grace Richards broke an 8-8 tie in the fourth quarter in a game that went back and forth from the start. Greeley trailed 2-0 early before putting together six straight goals in the first half and taking a 6-5 lead into the break. It was 8-8 going to the fourth before the Richards goal put the Quakers ahead and Edson sealed it with a goal late.

Sophia Boucher scored three times for Yorktown.
