A handful of teams dropped the puck this week with the Section 1 hockey season getting under way. The Guy Matthews Tournament at Ebersole Rink in White Plains highlights the opening week schedule.
White Plains beat Mahopac, 3-1, in the season-opener for both teams in a game that was part of the Guy Matthews Tournament. Julian Bysticky scored a pair of goals and Lev Glazman added the third. Corybyn Pozo stopped 18 shots for White Plains.

Rye Town/Harrison upended the Cortlandt Rebels by a 9-1 margin as Julian Gahr recorded three goals and an assist. Isaac Schultz added two goals and two assists, Jack Mazzelle had a goal and three assists and Peter Boraczek had a goal and two assists.
Sean Mohr had four assists, Noah Lowenthal had two, and Messier Monica and Nico Corvallan each scored for RTH.
