John Jay beats Byram Hills behind Fassert, hot bats

The John Jay offense exploded for double-digit runs for the fourth time this season and the Wolves continued to be one of the best pitching teams in the section, defeating Byram Hills 13-0 in five innings at home on Tuesday.

Greg Biscignano had three hits and three RBI, and Jacob Storch, Will Civetta and Nolan Rhodes each had two hits and drove in two runs as John Jay piled up 11 runs in the third inning to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Nick Fassert was superb again on the mound for the Wolves. The right-hander allowed just one hit and struck out eight over five innings. He didn’t walk a batter in another impressive outing for the senior, who guided Jay to the Section 1 Class A championship game last season.

In Jay’s six wins this season, they’ve allowed a combined four runs with three shutouts.
