Mamaroneck remains unbeaten - and untested - in Section 1 field hockey

Is Mamaroneck field hockey the most dominant team in Section 1 athletics?

You could make a strong case for it with the Tigers, who stand alone maybe with only Albertus Magnus girls soccer for the way they’ve overwhelmed opponents in the Section this Fall.

Mamaroneck posted another lopsided win on Tuesday, beating Ursuline 9-0 to improve to 10-0 overall and 9-0 in Section 1. The non-section win was on Sept. 5, a 3-2 victory against Greenwich (CT).

To date, Mamaroneck has allowed only one goal in nine Section 1 contests, and had only one game closer than five goals – a 1-0 win over powerhouse Lakeland on Sept. 7. Since then, the Tigers have outscored opponents by a 60-1 margin.

Charlotte Foley and Lily Brickman each had two goals and an assist against Ursuline. Catherine D’Arcy and Emma Kirwin both recorded a goal and an assist, while Lexi Suman, Ruby Pearson and Charlotte Noll all scored.

Lucy Kaplan had three assists, Talia Grill and Issy Sklar had one assist each, and Penny Norgaard recorded her eighth shutout of the season.

Mamaroneck next takes on Clarkstown on Oct. 14. The Tigers are zeroing in on the No. 1 seed in the Section 1 Class A Bracketology standings, which are available on GameDayOne.com.
