Olego heroics lift Byram Hills past Harrison in boys soccer

Byram Hills remained unbeaten in Section 1 on Monday, a run that dates back to last year’s unforgettable postseason ride to the state final.

Sebastian Olego made sure of that, converting a free kick for a goal with 1:43 remaining as Byram Hills went on the road and beat Harrison, 2-1, in a boys soccer showdown.

The win moved Byram Hills to 9-0-3 overall and solidified its place at the top of the Section 1 Class A Bracketology rankings with just over a week to play in the season. The Bobcats have a showdown on Wednesday with Rye at 4:30 pm in a game you can watch on LocalLive.tv.

Chris Amenedo accounted for Byram Hills’ first goal on a feed from Ryan Nichols. Harrison and Byram Hills tied in their first meeting on Sept. 19.

Harrison dropped to 7-4-2 overall and is tied for the No. 5 seed in the latest Section 1 Class AA Bracketology standings on GameDayOne.
