Preview: Both teams are coming off brilliant pitching performances in the semifinals. Croton has a slight edge coming off an emotional upset of defending champ Albertus Magnus, a 5-1 victory where Anthony Kim was exceptional on the mound. Rye Neck has won 15 straight but still remembers their opening day 3-2 loss to Croton. George Kastaros (9-2, 1.05 ERA) expects to get the ball for the Panthers.

Class A Championship: No. 2 Nanuet (16-5-1) vs. No. 5 Panas (17-3)

Season Results: Nanuet | Panas
Preview: Two of the hottest teams in the second half of the season meet in a game that will feature the pitching prominence of Nanuet and the lineup depth of Panas. Defending champ Panas graduated the bulk of last year’s roster but returns to the final thanks to the consistent run production of Gianni Generoso and Randy Weisner. Nanuet got the best pitching performance of the playoffs in the semis as Aidan Kempf struck out 16 in a two-hit shutout. The ball likely goes to Ryan Trombley, who has a complete-game victory in the postseason as well.

Class AAA Championship: No. 1 Ketcham (19-3) vs. No. 3 John Jay-EF (13-7-1)

Preview: You just knew it had to come down to this. Ketcham has dominated the section the last three seasons, highlighted by a state title last spring, but now has to go through their Wappingers District rival. John Jay enters the final riding the wave of a strong final week of the season and Wednesday’s dramatic playoff win at Arlington. Ketcham is still, well, Ketcham. Owen Paino is the section’s top player and his home run in the semis against Mamaroneck was a major statement. Riley Weatherwax will likely take the mound again in the championship game for the Storm. Expect an emotional game.

Class AA Championship: No. 2 Fox Lane (16-7) vs. No. 4 Eastchester (15-8)

Season Results: Fox Lane | Eastchester
Preview: These teams got to this point in different fashions. Eastchester has not given up a run in three postseason games thanks to exceptional pitching. Fox Lane has shown tremendous late-game mettle, walking off victories in the first two games before powering past Clarkstown North in the semis. The biggest factor in this game will again be Foxes ace Tyler Renz and when, and how long, he will pitch. Renz, a St. John’s commit and MLB Draft prosect, will take the mound at some point as the Foxes expect to mix and match their arms. This will be a chess match between the two coaches in what should be a low scoring contest.
