Pleasantville Advances on Late Game Heroics From Underclassmen

Things looked bleak as Pleasantville went into the bottom of the 7th inning in yesterday’s Class B quarterfinal trailing 3-0 to visiting Putnam Valley.

In the final frame, however, the Panthers put together a couple of hits from Jason Freberg and Dermot McSpedon to set the stage for one of the most dramatic moments of the entire Section 1 baseball season. With one out and two on in the last inning, freshman sensation Reed Supranowitz launched a game-tying 3 run HR onto the field house at Parkway Field to send it to extras. Supranowitz also was clutch on the mound, coming in to throw 3.2 scoreless innings after starter Charlie Bateman came out after the 5th.

Pleasantville would then get another clutch moment from another underclassman, walking it off in the bottom of the 9th, as sophomore Jack Van Sise got his third hit of the day to send the Panthers to the semifinals.

Here’s another angle of the Supranowitz game tying bomb
