Entering the week needing multiple wins to secure a spot in the Class B postseason, Blind Brook earned a much needed 8-2 victory over visiting Westlake on Wednesday at Rec Park in Port Chester. Senior Andrew Rogovic showed virtually no rust after dealing with a pesky finger blister for the last two weeks, throwing 4 innings with no hits, no earned runs and 5 K’s.
“Everything felt good, finger finally healed. I didn’t throw too many pitches for my first time back either, so not really that sore” the Northeastern commit told GamedayOne after the start.
Zach Schnider was strong in relief, holding the Wildcats to 1 ER and 2 hits over 3 innings. Daniel Glantz lead Blind Brook at the plate, going 2-3 with 4 RBI.
Following a season that saw the Trojans advance to the Class B Semifinals, the 2024 campaign has been more of a rebuilding year with sophomores and juniors filling the lineup. The young Trojans have struggled this season without their ace, but yesterday’s win inches them closer to securing a playoff spot.
With Sectionals moving back to single elimination this year, the Trojans could be an early round nightmare for any of the top seeds. Rogovic is working back into form and has confidence in his young teammates despite their growing pains, “Our record doesn’t show who we are. We’re getting healthier and cleaning up the mistakes we made earlier this year”.
