Section 1 Baseball: What's Next in the State Playoffs?

The five Section 1 champions in baseball from this weekend will put their Gold Glove trophies away and begin their quest for a New York State title this week.

Each team must win two regional games (unless they receive a bye) to advance to the NYSPHSAA Final Four in Binghamton on June 7-8.

Here’s what’s next for each of the winners:

Section 1 Baseball Champions move on to the @NYSPHSAA Tournament. Here’s what is ahead for each:

Class AAA: Ketcham

Next game: Regional Semifinal – Ketcham vs. Corning-Painted Post (Section 4), Thursday at 4 pm at Horseheads HS.

If Ketcham wins, the defending state champs will host Newburgh (Section 9) on Saturday at 4 pm at Purchase College.

Class AA: Eastchester

Next game: Eastchester receives a bye in the Regional Semifinal. They will the winner of Horseheads (Section 4)-Wallkill (Section 9), who play Thursday at Cantine Field in Saugerties at 3 pm

If Wallkill wins, Eastchester will play Saturday at Cantine
If Horseheads wins, Eastchester will play Saturday at Union-Endicott HS

If Nanuet wins, they will host Marlboro (Section 9) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Purchase College
