Yes they Khang! Scarsdale completes 3-peat on late heroics

Following back-to-back Class AA NYS championships in 2022 and 2023, Scarsdale moved up to Class AAA this season with a new challenge ahead of them. In an early season stunner, on September 11th they were handed a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arlington, the Raiders first Section 1 loss in 44 games.

Scarsdale would get their shot at revenge in yesterday’s Class AA title game, and the rematch would live up to the hype and then some. Trading goals back and forth the entire game, Scarsdale and Arlington would head into the final minutes deadlocked at 2-2 and looked headed towards extra time.

With 6 minutes remaining, however, Marist-bound senior Leo Khang would find the net after tracking down a loose ball. Scarsdale would hold on through the final minutes to secure their third straight Section 1 title.

Reigning Section 1 player of the year Lorenzo Galeano and Will McAllister were the other scorers for the Raiders, while Noah Mellen found the net twice for the Admirals.

Scarsdale moves on to play Section 9’s Elmira at 5pm on Wednesday.
