Scarsdale got senior big man Daniel Hoey back this week after he missed the first eight weeks with injury. On Friday night, they may have got their swagger back, too.
Hoey and standout Jake Sussberg ignited a second-half comeback that might flip the Raiders’ entire season around. The duo guided Scarsdale back from a 12-point deficit to defeat Mamaroneck 66-58 in a Section 1 Class AAA showdown before a capacity crowd.

The Raiders (12-5) avenged a loss at home last week to Mamaroneck, which has now lost consecutive games following a 14-0 start to the season.
Scarsdale, which entered having lost four out of five games, had no answers in the first half for Mamaroneck junior Brandon Burrell, who connected on four 3-pointers in the second quarter. Sussberg, who finished with 26 points, went shot for shot with Burrell during one stretch. But Burrell helped the Tigers stake a 39-30 halftime advantage.
Sussberg and Hoey went to work in the third quarter. Despite a couple of more 3-pointers from Burrell, Scarsdale stormed to a 52-49 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Hoey finished the game with 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Sussberg had nine rebounds and four assists and Brandon Gibbons contributed 13 points and four assists.
Burrell ended the night with seven 3-pointers but was held in check in the fourth quarter thanks to intense defense from Logan Mancusi. Will Plunkett had 18 point and 18 rebounds for Mamaroneck.
