What was billed as the biggest game of the regular season in Section 1 lacrosse certainly delivered on the drama.
Freshman midfielder Will Niejadlik scored with under five seconds to play to lift Rye to a heart-pounding 14-13 win over Horace Greeley in a matchup of Section 1’s top two teams.
The game was tight throughout with the Garnets holding a one-goal lead after each of the first three quarters. They had possession in the final minute before Niejadlik came from behind the cage and scored just as he was driven to the turf by a defender.

Tucker Hess led Rye with three goals and an assist and Henry Shoemaker added three goals. Tyler McDermott had two goals and an assist for the Garnets.
Luke Dessi scored four goals for Horace Greeley. Matthew Byrne added three goals and an assist and Jason Kim had two goals and two assists. Jameson Blakeslee and Jake Gashi both had two goals and an assist for the Quakers.
