The NYSSWA Large School All State teams were released yesterday, headlined by Class AAA Player of the Year Boogie Fland and his Stepinac teammate, Braylan Ritvo being named to the First Team. The Player of the Year honor caps off a remarkable senior year where Boogie not only lead Stepinac to unprecedented heights but also thrived in the Jordan Brand Classic, McDonald’s All American Game and USA Select games. This young man lived up to all of the hype and then some, and has earned his spot amongst this area’s all time greats.
Fland and Ritvo showed time and time again against the nation’s top competition that they were not only two of the best players in New York, but also in the entire country. The dynamic duo lead the Crusaders for the first back to back City Championship since Christ the King in 2015, cementing their place as one of the top teams to ever play in Westchester County. Ritvo will continue his career at Quinnipiac with Coach Tom Pecora, while former Kentucky commit Fland has reopened his recruitment after John Calipari’s departure to Arkansas.
