Here’s how those eight teams got to the finals:

Section 1 Semifinals – Thursday
Class A
Mamaroneck dominates White Plains

The top-seeded Tigers had no trouble with their rivals, winning 17-2 at home. Carsen Winters led the charge, recording three goals and five assists. Jude Meisner added four goals , Nate Kulish two goals and two assists and Brian Auker and Jake Reese each had two goals and an assist.

Carmel secures first finals berth
The second-seeded Rams are a win away from their first ever section title behind their usual core of stars. Matt Risley, who was key to Carmel’s three straight Section 1 football titles had three goals and two assists. Thomas Connolly also had a hat trick and an assist, while Adam Boeheim, Ryan Aabel and Jake Lotz each registered a goal and an assist. Jake Meissner had 21 saves as Carmel took down the defending Section 1 champs.

Looking Ahead: No. 1 Mamaroneck (12-6) vs. No. 2 Carmel (15-2) – Section 1 Class A Championship
The showdown of the week pits a Mamaroneck team looking to reclaim the hardware against a Carmel trying to win a championship for the first time. The teams did not meet in the regular season although they have one interesting common opponent – Mamaroneck lost by a goal to Yorktown while Carmel defeated Yorktown late in the season. This one is hard to predict, especially with how dominant Mamaroneck has been of late. But you just feel like this is Carmel’s season.
KDJ Pick: Carmel 12, Mamaroneck 11

Class D
Pleasantville has no trouble with Haldane

Reigning champ Pleasantville beat Haldane 19-4 to reach the final. Daniel Picart led the way again, scoring five goals and Aidan Cotter added four. Nick Reich and Erik Coleman each had three assists, and David Hundzynski had two goals and an assist.

Bronxville hands Westlake first defeat of 2024
Down goes Westlake, which entered this matchup undefeated. But the Broncos ran away with a 13-7 road victory Theo McMurray and Nick Martinelli each posted three goals and two assists. Brian Formato scored three times and Jack Reilly continued to be the tablesetter for this offense, contributing five assists and two goals.

Looking Ahead: Bronxville (12-6) vs. Pleasantville (16-2) – Section 1 Class D Final
No real surprise that these small school powerhouses are playing for the title. They met in the regular season with Pleasantville winning 12-6 on April 12. The Broncos are a vastly improved team since then and figure to have closed the gap since then. Pleasantville and their core of seniors, who have so much big-game experience between football and lacrosse the last three years, are primed to finish off their undefeated run through the section.
KDJ’s Pick: Pleasantville 14, Bronxville 9

Section 1 Semifinals – Friday
Class B

Horace Greeley stuns Somers
Quakers goalie Toby Moskow was sensational in the cage. He made 14 saves, several of which came early, as part of a 12-6 victory over the second-seeded Tuskers. Jameson Blakeslee had four goals and two assists and Connor Lummel scored three times. Jack Holub had two goals and an assists, and Jason Kim and Matthew Byrne each had a goal and an assist. Somers had beaten Greeley 15-6 in the regular season.

Yorktown holds off Lakeland/Panas again
The top-seeded Huskers beat their bitter rival for the second time in a few weeks, once again pulling away in the fourth quarter. In Yorktown’s 10-5 victory, Drew Weismann had three goals and two assists and JT Carney added three goals. Gianluca Marchini scored twice for the Huskers.

Looking Ahead: No. 1 Yorktown (13-5) vs. No. 3 Horace Greeley (13-5) – Section 1 Class B Final
All of the pressure here is on Yorktown, which is not only playing at home in the section championship but has rich history on its side. Greeley has thrived in the underdog role, beating two teams in the postseason that they had lost to in the regular season. Yorktown and Greeley did not meet but common opponents point to the Huskers having a slight edge in what should be an intriguing matchup.
KDJ’s Pick: Yorktown 10, Horace Greeley 8

Class C
Rye upends Tappan Zee in road victory
The Garnets went over the bridge and rolled through TZ, winning 15-6 to return to the section final.

Top-seed John Jay-CR handily beats Hen Hud
The Wolves are headed back to the section final following a 14-3 thrashing of Hen Hud. Luca Duva had two goals and four assists and Shapiro scored four times in the win. Dom Savastano went all 18 of his faceoffs and also registered a goal in the win.

Looking Ahead: No. 1 John Jay-CR (14-4) vs. No. 3 Rye (11-7) – Section 1 Class C FInal
These teams seemed destined to meet for the section title and their performances in the semifinals only reinforced it. Jay and Rye met last month with the Garnets coming away with an 11-9 victory. The Garnets neutralized Jay’s major advantage over most opponents, which is Savastano on faceoffs, and will a similar effort in the final. It’s hard to beat a team twice. Rye, though, is hardened by a rigorous schedule and ready to claim the title.
KDJ’s Pick: Rye 13, John Jay-CR 12
