Valhalla football improved to 3-0 on Friday night under first-year coach Dan DeMatteo with another overpowering performance by the running game and offensive line.
The Vikings overwhelmed Briarcliff/Hamilton on the road, 47-10, by rushing for 564 yards as a team with five touchdowns on 42 attempts. Four players ran for over 100 yards in the contest for Valhalla, which averaged 13.4 yards per attempt.
“I’m proud of the way the kids have responded,” said DeMatteo, a long-time coach in the city of Yonkers. “They work hard at practice and they are seeing the results on the field.”

Luke Foisett led the way, running for 164 yads on 10 carries. Bryan Moulard added 102 yards and two touchdowns on just four attempts, and also returned a kickoff 91 yards for a score.
Josh Bergey ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Jake Dinatle had 101 yards and a score on 10 attemtps. Tyler Ratti contributed 67 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
“It’s fun to watch them have success,” DeMatteo said. “They are a great group of coachable kids who want to always get better.”
Valhalla quarterback Brayden McGinty threw a touchdown to Brady Teter in the win.
Danny Lynch led the defense with six tackles and two sacks.
Valhalla sits atop the Class C playoff standings. The Vikings, who’ve outscored their first three opponents by a 109-17 margin, takes on Hastings on Oct. 10.
