Somers burns past Harrison on Palazzolo's 3 touchdowns

Going into yesterday’s rematch of last year’s Class A title game, Harrison was riding a four game winning streak in which they had only allowed 20 points. This looked like a solid test for a Somers team that has been rolling over opponents since a Week 1 scare against Yorktown.

This one would unfortunately not live up to the hype however, as the Tuskers jumped on the Huskies early with Mason Kelly and Dean Palazzolo 1st quarter touchdowns. Somers wouldn’t look back, adding another score before halftime to make it 21-0. Palazzolo would then show why he’s the most explosive player in Section 1, as the junior star exploded for an 89 kickoff return touchdown to start the 2nd half and essentially put the game away.

Palazzolo would end the game with 6 catches for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with the kickoff return. Senior QB Miguel Iglesias had another stellar performance in the pocket, going 14 for 16 for 293 yards with 3 TD’s, the Notre Dame lacrosse commit would also add an interception on defense.

With two weeks left in the regular season, Somers and Rye continue to separate themselves from the pack in Class A. Rye struggled a bit offensively this week in a 14-0 win against Eastchester, while Somers looked perhaps their sharpest all season.
