Rye pulls away late, beats Yorktown to get to 7-0

Rye’s run through its schedule continued on Friday night, beating Yorktown with a pair of late touchdowns in what was easily their toughest Section 1 game of the season.

Now the Garnets get to play the biggest game.

Friday’s 35-21 victory over Yorktown should be the springboard for Rye heading into its finale with arch-rival Harrison, at home on October 26. Harrison has beaten Rye the last two seasons.

HIGHLIGHTS: RYE 35, YORKTOWN 21

Carson Boo Miller led the way for the Rye offense on Friday. He completed 10 of 18 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 79 yards, including the game-clinching 18-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Henry Shoemaker and Jake Kessner each caught touchdowns. Archer Fenton ran for 55 yards and a score on four carries and Ty Ramachandran was the workhorse for Rye, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts.

Tyler Galante scored all three of Yorktown’s touchdowns, the first coming when he returned the game’s opening kickoff 95 yards for the score. Galante later caught a pair of scores from Kaden Gonzalez, as well as a two-point conversion.

The Huskers close their season next week with a matchup against Brewster.
