Iona Prep’s mission to take over the New York Catholic football league took a resounding step forward on Saturday as the Gaels completed a dominant sweep through the conference.
Crew Davis ran for 222 yards and four touchdowns to guide Iona Prep to a commanding 43-22 victory over St. Anthony’s in the NYCHSFL AAA Division title game at Mitchel Field in Uniondale.
Iona Prep remained unbeaten in CHSFL play for the season, beating St. Anthony’s for the second time and posting another lopsided playoff victory.

Davis, a junior, earned the game’s Offensive MVP honors, highlighted by a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns as to break the game — which was play entirely in 40 MPH winds — open for Iona’s second title in four seasons.
Brennen Pressley, the game’s Defensive MVP, had two touchdown runs. Julian Guzman ran for 86 yards and a touchdown and threw for 77 yards for the Gaels, who advance to take on Canisius in Buffalo for the Catholic State Championship at noon.
