Byram Hills volleyball continues title defense with gutsy five set win

The Byram Hills girls volleyball team ran through Section 1 last season, capturing the Class A championship and reaching the state final four.

While the Bobcats’ title defense began with a season-opening loss to Somers, they’re rebounded with three straight wins, highlighted by Tuesday’s five-set victory at home over John Jay-Cross River.

Maya Liczernski had 33 kills with 17 digs and three aces on Tuesday for Byram Hills. Claire Mauney contributed 38 assists and four blocks and Anna Higgins registered 15 digs, seven kills and three aces.

The win came after a pair of 3-0 victory for Byram Hills last week over Edgemont and Eastchester.

Byram Hills remains among the favorites to win the Class A title despite a very crowded field of contenders. Follow the entire season and Bracketology standings on GameDayOne.com here.
