Somers football faced by far its biggest challenge to a Section 1 championship over the last four years. And the Tuskers responded with perhaps their best performance during this dynasty.
After trailing Rye by a touchdown at the half — in a game Somers were getting thoroughly outplayed in through the first two quarters – the Tuskers put up 28 straight and rolled to a 35-21 win in the Section 1 Class A Championship at Mahopac High School.
Miguel Iglesias ran for three touchdowns and three another to lead the charge and lead Somers, the two-time defending New York State champs, to a fourth straight Section 1 crown.
Somers (11-0) keyed the second half by converting a slew of third- and fourth-down attempt and forcing a three of Rye turnovers.
