Girardi breaks all-time Tappan Zee goals mark in 5-1 win over Hen Hud

Tappan Zee junior Eve Girardi went into yesterday’s matchup with Hen Hud needing one goal to tie and two goals to pass the all-time school record of 49 held by Niamh Healy. Girardi would accomplish that and then some, finding the back of the net four times in a 5-1 road win at Hen Hud. She now sits at an astonishing 52 goals in 2 1/2 varsity seasons, not to mention her 18 assists which puts her at the top of Tappan Zee’s all-time points list as well.

Chris Rastelli, Tappan Zee Head Coach spoke to GameDay One about what makes Girardi so special, “Eve is a three sport athlete, playing soccer, basketball and flag football. In my 20 years coaching, I’m not sure I’ve met a competitor quite like her. She wants to be the best at everything she does, she competes at every turn in life and simply wants to win”.

Tappan Zee now sits at 7-3, winning 4 of their last 5 matches outscoring opponents 20-7 in those four wins. They’re currently sitting in 6th place in a Class AA field packed at the top with title contenders.
