The 2025 girls soccer season in Section 1 is set to kick off with plenty of excitement, new rules, and important dates to keep in mind.

Class AAA: Arlington
Class AA: Albertus Magnus (State champions)
Class A: Rye
Class B: Bronxville

NBC’s SportsEngine is officially the new home for the most streamed events in Section 1 Athletics, including the Section 1 Championships once again this school year.
Formerly LocalLive Networks, SportsEngine will be streaming games every day for free at partner schools, beginning this week with soccer, field hockey, volleyball and football.

Key Dates to Know
- First Scrimmage/Game: September 1, 2025
- Last Day to Play: October 20, 2025
- Seeding Meeting: October 21, 2025
- All-League/All-Section Meeting: October 22, 2025
- Section 1 Tournament:
- Outbracket: October 23–24
- Quarterfinals: October 25–27
- Semifinals: October 28–29
- Finals: October 30–November 2 at Nyack High School
Regional and State Play:
- Regional semifinals begin November 6 at Arlington HS.
- Regional finals are set for November 8.
- NYSPHSAA Championships follow, with dates and sites to be confirmed.
New Rules and Points of Emphasis
- No Overtime in Regular Season: Matches ending in regulation will stand as final. Overtime and penalty-kick procedures apply only in postseason play.
- Head Coverings: Players may now wear religious head coverings without prior approval, as long as they are safe and secure. Medical or cosmetic head coverings are permitted with physician approval.
- Q-Collar Device: Approved for use in soccer to aid in protecting athletes from potential brain impacts.
- Penalty Kick Format: Updated postseason procedures clarify sudden-victory rounds after the first five shooters.
- Yellow Card Policy:
- 5 yellow cards in the regular season = 1-game suspension.
- 3 yellow cards in postseason = 1-game suspension.
- Carryover rules apply from late-season games into playoffs.
