Bergen Catholic, which is ranked in many polls as a Top 10 team in the nation, features the state’s top recruit, Quincy Porter, a wide receiver who has committed to play at Ohio State. Two other seniors have committed to play major Division I football:
Chris Vigna, a guard, to Rutgers, and Naiim Parrish, a defensive back to Minnesota. Juniors Jermaine Kinsler, a 6-foot-6 270 pound defensive tackle, and Jordan Thomas, a defensive back, are among the elite recruits in the Class of 2026.

Just north in White Plains on Saturday, Stepinac (0-2) hosts another New Jersey power in St. Joseph Regional (Montvale), which enters 1-1. St. Joe’s opened its season with a loss to Maryland power St. Frances. Both of Stepinac’s losses were to high-powered Maryland schools, as well.
St. Joseph features standout running back John Forster, a Rutgers commit, and defensive back Jahmir Joseph, a defensive back headed to Penn State.

Defending CHSFL champion Cardinal Hayes opens its season on Friday night against DePaul Catholic. While Hayes boasts arguably the best player in the Tri-State in quarterback Rich Belin, DePaul is a Non-Public favorite thanks to a roster that includes five of New Jersey’s top recruits:
Defensive back DeShawn Stewart, who has committed to Ohio State, wide receivers De’Zie Jones (Ohio State) and Elijah Burress (Notre Dame), running back Nolan James (Boston College) and guard Michael Troutman (Penn State).
Belin, who committed this summer to play at Syracuse, led Hayes to the CHSFL championship last Fall, passing for 3,112 yards and 30 touchdowns and rushing for 1,359 yards and 19 scores.
