Arielle Reddick launched a grand slam and John Jay-East Fishkill softball rolled past R.C. Ketcham and up the rank in Class AAA Bracketology.
Reddick went 2 for 3 with the moon shot home run and five RBI in the Patriots’ 10-1 rout of rival Ketcham on Monday. The fourth-inning blast was captured here on the LocalLive broadcast from John Jay-EF:
It was the fourth straight win for John Jay (12-2) since losing a one-run heartbreaker to Arlington on April 30. The Patriots are currently third in Class AAA Bracketology behind defending champion North Rockland and White Plains. FIND THE FULL STANDINGS HERE.
“I think we have had a great season thus far but we still have some really important games coming up,” Jay coach Larry Brooks said. “Every game in our league is really competitive, so every night is a battle. With all the rainouts, we’ve had limited practices like most teams. The girls have done a great job of staying focused and ready to play.”
SEASON RESULTS: JOHN JAY-EF SOFTBALL 2024
John Jay closes the season with three more games this week: vs Ketcham on Wednesday, FDR-Hyde Park of Section 9 and then Yorktown follow this weekend.
The team has been receiving contributions from all over. In the circle, Lyla Dwyer has been exceptional. On Monday, the junior tossed a complete game five-hitter, striking out three and allowing one run.
Dwyer also went 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Emma Barton went 2 for 3 with three RBI and two runs.
“This is a great group,” Brooks said. “We are scrappy and do the little things which make us competitive. North Rockland and White Plains are great teams, who are well coached. If we get an opportunity to see either of them I’m sure the girls will be up for the challenge and ready to play them.”
