Mahopac got a shred of revenge for last year’s playoff upset and, more importantly, built more momentum entering Friday night against rival Somers.

The Wolf Pac secured a hard-fought 24-19 victory over Fox Lane on Friday night, improving to 2-0 on the season. Powered by a balanced offensive attack, Mahopac held off a late surge from Fox Lane, handing the Foxes a loss in their season opener.

Mahopac’s ground game set the tone early, with Nate Mascoll leading the charge. Mascoll carried the ball 19 times for 117 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Jack Clifford also contributed with 17 carries for 63 yards and a rushing touchdown of his own, helping the Wolf Pac control the clock and wear down the Fox Lane defense.

Quarterback Ethan Dedvukaj was efficient through the air, completing 6 of 8 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. Dedvukaj’s biggest strike came on a 59-yard touchdown pass to Mascoll, who showcased his versatility as both a runner and receiver. Lorenzo Echandy was the top target for Mahopac, hauling in two receptions for 70 yards.

Mahopac’s ability to convert in key situations was crucial to their success, as the Wolf Pac went 9 for 10 on third-down conversions, sustaining drives and keeping Fox Lane’s offense off the field for long stretches.

The Mahopac defense also made their presence felt, with Jack Clifford and Landon Varley each recording a sack. Nick Tardio came up with a clutch interception that halted a promising Fox Lane drive.

Fox Lane kept things competitive throughout, but Mahopac’s combination of clock management, timely passing, and defensive pressure proved too much to overcome. The WolfPac were able to fend off a late push by Fox Lane, maintaining their lead and securing the win in the final minutes.

With the victory, Mahopac remains unbeaten at 2-0 entering Friday’s showdown with two-time state champion Somers. Fox Lane drops to 0-1 on the season.
