The semifinals for Section 1 football are set after a quarterfinal round that saw only one upset and only three contests decided by one score or less. Let’s take a look at the results by class and the updated brackets:
Class AAA
No. 4 Carmel 33, No. 5 Arlington 27
The Rams leaned on the arm of Brian McGrory to get them past rival Arlington into the Class AAA semifinals. McGrory has quickly developed into one of the top passers in Section 1 and his connection with WR Thomas Connolly makes this offense difficult to stop on any night. McGrory had another 200 yard performance, going for 238 yards with 3 TD’s against the Admirals. Connolly caught 5 passes for 104 yards and 2 of those TD’s. McGrory now has 1,922 yards on the season and will likely eclipse the 2,000 mark in the semis against No. 1 North Rockland.
