Momentum building for Rye heading into boys basketball playoffs

With 22 Bonus Points earned this season — the most of any school in Section 1 — Rye basketball can boast having the toughest schedule of any team.

On Saturday, the Garnets passed arguably their best challenge of all.

Rye took down Gold Ball favorite Tappan Zee, 47-38, in a Class AA showdown at home in the season finale. The Garnets (14-6) unofficially earned the No. 3 seed in the Section 1 playoffs with the third straight victory by beating Scarsdale, Harrison and Tappan Zee.
