Rye beats John Jay in clash of Class C favorites

Rye went on the road on Tuesday night and came away with their biggest victory in their hunt to repeat a Class C champions in Section 1.

Tucker Hess scored four goals and had an assist, and Henry Shoemaker added three goals and two assists as the Garnets knocked off John Jay-Cross River, 11-9, in a tense showdown under the lights in Katonah.

The game was tied 9-9 with in the final minutes before the Garnets (4-1) punched home a pair of goals to pull away late.

Carson Miller tallied the first with 4:22 remaining before Shoemaker took a feed from Hess to provide some insurance two minutes later. Tyler McDermott had a pair of goals, Archie Berkery scores and Tripp Redd and Henry Gilroy each had assists.

Justin Shapiro scored four times for John Jay-CR (5-3). Luca Duva, Andrew Kiefer and Luke Bueti each had a goal and an assist.
