Somers makes history with first ever lacrosse state title

Somers took down Jamesville-Dewitt 19-11 earlier today in Rochester in the NYSPHSAA Class C Boys Lacrosse Championship. Somers capped off a dominant season where their only in-state loss came to Long Island champion Garden City who play for the Class B state title tonight.

With many crossover lacrosse and football stars, the current senior class lead by Notre Dame commit Miguel Iglesias and Brown bound Mason Kelly have won three consecutive football state titles and now can call themselves state champs in both sports.

Sophomore Cam Violante continued his inspired play, netting six goals for the Tuskers in the final. Matt Mayfield continued to prove why he’s among the best FO specialists in the state, earning 33 of 34 FO’s, while adding two goals and four assists.
