Suffern outlasts Peekskill in championship rematch at Coaches vs Cancer Showcase

Suffern and Peekskill staged what could be one of the best games of the season in Section 1 boys basketball on Saturday afternoon.

The rematch of last year’s Class AA championship game was the headliner of the LHBCA Coaches vs Cancer Showcase at Mahopac HS.

Suffern (12-1) found a way late to pull out a heart-pounding 59-58 victory in overtime over Peekskill (9-6) behind a 28 point effort from Jake Pampolina.

Jeph Joseph added 18 points, including the tying basket late in regulation, and three rebounds in the win for the Mounties, who have won eight games in a row.

Jaden Chavis scored 28 points and Isaiah Crawford added 16 for Peekskill, the defending Section 1 champs.
