Blind Brook grinds out road win behind Taerstein double-double

Blind Brook went on the road on Wednesday and got a 41-36 win at Hastings to tip off the season for both Class B programs. The win is the first for Trojans coach John Aguilar at his new school after 9 seasons at Rye.

Despite some early season shooting rust, Blind Brook’s defense and interior scoring proved the difference in the game. Junior center Tyler Taerstein was a force on both sides, contributing 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals to lead the Trojans. Senior guard Noah Brookman also added 12 points, 4 assists and 4 steals in the win. Dylan Heilakka paced the Yellow Jackets with a very strong 16 point performance in the loss.

Blind Brook takes on Class B opponent Haldane at 4:30 next Tuesday at home, while Hastings travels to Class AA Greeley at 5pm on Friday.
