Hen Hud QB Lucy Mager takes home the ConEdison Scholar Athlete of the Week Award

Congratulations to Lucy Mager of Hen Hud for earning the @conedison Scholar Athlete of the Week Award.

Lucy Mager is QB1 for @hhhsgirlsflagfootball and currently has the Sailors at 8-3 and in the No. 2 spot in the Class C playoff standings. The senior has 8 passing TD’s to go with 3 rushing scores this season.

Mager has been a varsity athlete at Hen Hud since her 8th grade year, earning All-League honors in softball, bowling and tennis by her freshman year. Her athletic career came in question, however when a debilitating back injury struck in her sophomore year.

Mager, who had been vocal in bringing girls flag football to the district prior to the injury, did not let the obstacle stand in her way and continued to advocate for the sport throughout her time off the field.

The senior is also a standout in the classroom, earning high honor roll her entire high school career and has won numerous leadership and achievement awards.

Mager has also been a volunteer for the Special Olympics since 10th grade, contributing over 250 hours of service to the organization and other community groups.

Her perseverance, dedication and selflessness earned her the distinction of being one of eleven tri-state area finalists for the HEART OF A GIANT AWARD from the NY Giants and Hospital for Special Surgery.

Lucy will be attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville next year, where we have no doubt she’ll make her mark as well.
