Semifinal Recaps: Division I
Scarsdale 31, Mahopac 18: No. 1 seed Scarsdale continued their undefeated season, taking down No. 3 Mahopac in yesterday’s Division 1 Flag Football semifinal. Senior Ivy Boockvar continued to show why she might be the most dangerous offensive weapon in Section 1, throwing for 143 yards with 4 TD’s, to go along with a 51 receiving yards, 1 TD catch and 97 rushing yards. Gia Asen was a star on both sides of the ball, catching one of those Boockvar TD’s and adding 7 tackles on defense.

New Rochelle 20, Yorktown 18: No. 3 New Rochelle made the trip up to No. 2 Yorktown and handed the Huskers their first loss of the season to advance to Saturday’s Championship game against Scarsdale. Stella Ziogas lead the Huguenots offense with 1 rushing score as well as a receiving TD from Jocelyn Hernandez. New Rochelle’s special teams and defense were the difference in this tight matchup, as Grace Ziogas and Brianne Foley combined for 5 INT’s as well as Foley’s 55 yard punt return for a score. Kaitlyn Judge continued her incredible season for Yorktown, throwing for 220 yards and 3 TD’s as Yorktown’s season came to an end.
Semifinal Recaps: Division II
Brewster 27, Eastchester 21: No.1 seed Brewster took care of business at home, holding off No. 4 Eastchester 27-21. Ava Fagin threw two touchdowns and returned an interception for a score. Shay Rockwood caught a score and had a pick, as did Emma DeBenedictis, who returned her interception for a score. Kiley Brooks anchored the defense with six tackles and an interception. The Bears now take on Tappan Zee on Saturday for the Division II title. Brewster shut out TZ 30-0 to open the season on March 20th.
Tappan Zee 21, Lakeland 12: No. 3 seed Tappan Zee went on the road took down No. 2 Lakeland lead by Eve Girardi’s 2 TD passes and 1 rushing score. Nina Vazquez and Alyssa Sanchez were on the receiving end of the two Girardi TD throws. Tappan Zee’s defense was the difference in this matchup, holding the Hornets to 12 points, when they were averaging over 32 per game so far this season.
