Marquee win: Rye knocks off CHSFL power Monsignor Farrell in season opener

Defending state champion Rye opened its season on Friday with arguably its most impressive home victory in a decade.

The Garnets back from two touchdowns down to hand NYCHSFL AA Division power Monsignor Farrell a 31-21 defeat at Nugent Stadium.

Carson Boo Miller completed 24 of 33 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Miller, a junior who committed this week to play lacrosse at Harvard, also ran for 50 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Miller, making his first career start, connected with Jake Kessner eight times for 76 yards. Chris Iuliano ran for 65 yards and a touchdown and also caught a 30-yard score.

Tucker Hess added six catches for 48 yards and a touchdown for Rye.
