Ava Fagin continued her outstanding play in her first season as quarterback on Saturday, and the defense put together maybe its best half of the season.
It all added up to a 24-13 victory for top-seeded Brewster over Tappan Zee in the Section 1 Division II Girls Flag Football championship at Lakeland High School. It was the first ever title for the Bears, who were beaten in last year’s final.

Brewster moves on to the NYSPHSAA Regional on Thursday. The Bears (16-1-1) will take on Saugerties of Section 9 at Hen Hud High School. The game will be streamed exclusively by NFHSNetwork.com.
